Obesity in Diabetes are linked to their Economic conditions
Globally, the frequencies of continual and contending diseases are increasing at a frightening rate. The count shows that every year around 18 million people die due to cardiovascular diseases in which diabetes and hypertension are foremost factors. It is also said around 97 million people in our nation are obese or overweight, which causes the risk of many diseases like hypertension, diabetes, heart diseases.
In a new study by UC-Davis it shows that people with minimum wages are expected to be more obese than people with higher wages. This is a report given by Stockton Records. The whole research is done in California counties and found that socioeconomic conditions of the family, rate of obesity and diabetes are interconnected.
Two counties of California were taken under consideration, first was San Joaquin County and the other was Marin County. According to a survey in 2005 by California Health Interview, it shows that around 70% of adults are overweight in San Joaquin County. This has made this county the heaviest County in California. Even this County has the highest death rate of Diabetic patients with around 35 deaths per 100,000 residents. Also this County has the lowest average income as compared to the other Counties.
Rather in comparison with the other County i.e. Marin County, the rate of Obesity and Diabetes is much lower than San Joaquin County. The average income and level of education is much higher in this County. Only 44% of Adults are Obese or overweight in this County and even the death rate of Diabetic patients are less than 10 per 100,000 residents.
San Joaquin County is effectively working to recover from Diabetes and its obesity rate with an Obesity and Chronic Disease Prevention Task Force; this was launched in August 2009.
