Surprising Analysis: Pollutant and Vitamin E Increase Type 2 Diabetes

Diabetes is classified as chronic diseases that will kill people if there is no intensive treatment. There are many factors that cause diabetes, such as bad nutrients, bad life habits, etc., But, it is really surprising when 266 potential environmental contributors give the analysis that type 2 diabetes is caused by pollutants and vitamin E.

The analysis is not like a funny joke! Atul Butte, who is the HHMI Physician-Scientist Early Career, stated that pollutant in our environment has big possibilities to increase type 2 diabetes. Butte added that this study is the first step to discover the influence of environmental cause some diseases for a human being, including type 2 diabetes. It needs extra and intensive studies to show evidence for people how our environment gives a contribution for many diseases.

Based on the American Diabetes Association, diabetes type 2 has affected more than 23.6 million citizens in the USA. It means that type 2 diabetes is infectious diseases that influence people in the USA. Type 2 diabetes will cause blindness, kidney failure, heart attack, and even amputation for part of the body that is affected by diabetes. That is awful!

As further study, Butte cooperates with CDC, which is the part of NHANES (National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey) to get a sample of blood and urine from many people with different groups. From blood and urine tested, eventually finds that PCBs in the environment has a high factor to affect diseases, including type diabetes.

As stated above, besides pollutant, the form of vitamin E has a contribution to influence type 2 diabetes. Gamma-tocopherol as a form of vitamin E that is contained in many diet products in the USA is successfully tested in causing type 2 diabetes. Furthermore, as like pollutant test, Vitamin E also needs further study to complete the evidence.
