World Cup Star Didier Drogba of Ivory Coast Helping Kids with Diabetes

Like the rest of the world, the writers here at Diabetes Insider as obbessed with the with 2010 FIFA World Cup currently going on in Africa. As we are watching the current match featuring the Ivory Coast team – we came across the following interesting and feel-good story.

Didier Drigba is the captain of the Ivory Coast soccer team & is revered back home for his sporting and financial success. While Didier Drigba is not on the field for Ivory Coast in todays match since we was in an accident a few weeks ago.

Didier Drigba donated 3 million pounds to build a hospital in Ivory Coast. When announcuing the 3 million pound doantion Didier Drigba was quoted saying :

“When I visited a hospital in Abidjan this year, I was shocked by the terrible conditions. We hear about all the incurable diseases, but these kids are just as likely to die from diabetes because there is no insulin available.”
